George Moncur's late free-kick saw Luton extend their lead at the summit of League One with a 3-2 win over nearest challengers Portsmouth at Kenilworth Road.

Luton opened the scoring six minutes before the break when Kazenga LuaLua played the ball in for James Collins to calmly finish after 39 minutes.

Portsmouth levelled seven minutes into the second half when Ronan Curtis drilled home an equaliser, but Collins' 77th-minute penalty had Luton back in front.

Portsmouth needed just two minutes to level through Omar Bogle with a poacher's finish, but Moncur curled in a free-kick in the 86th minute.

Joe Ward struck at the death for sixth-placed Peterborough as they rescued a 2-2 draw to keep Bristol Rovers in the drop zone.

Tom Nichols put Rovers ahead from the penalty spot eight minutes in and though Ivan Toney levelled in the 37th minute, Ollie Clarke had Rovers back in front before the break. But just when it looked like the win was theirs, Ward denied them.

David Ball scored in the sixth minute of stoppage time as Bradford snatched a much-needed 4-3 win over Shrewsbury.
